Standing Committees

COMMUNITY SERVICE – Robert Collier, Chair

The Community Service Committee encourages members to volunteer in their respective communities and document volunteer hours. Members also identify volunteer and community service activities for the chapter, especiall during the holiday months of November and December. Previous efforts have been to collect and donate blankets to a local dialysis center as well as partner with a local homeless services provider to donate items for persons experiencing homelessness.

HEALTH & WELLNESS – , Chair

The Health & Wellness Committee provides helpful information to members to encourage physical and mental wellbeing, updates on changes to prescription drugs laws, cooking tips, and healthy living ideas.

HOSPITALITY – , Chair

The Hospitality Committee oversees all food and beverage service for chapter events as scheduled, primarily any type of birthday celebrations, meals, and the Annual Picnic, held in August of each year.

LEGISLATIVE – , Chair

The Legislative Committee provides updates to the membership on upcoming elections (local, state, national), pending legislation affecting older adults, and any advocay efforts underway.

MEMBERSHIP – Della Simmons, Chair

The Membership Committee is responsible for welcoming new members and visitors, maintaining an updated membership roster, and documenting attendance at each month’s meeting.

NOMINATING – , Chair

The Nominating Committee is responsible for presenting the slate of candidates each year to the membership for officer elections.

PROGRAMS – , Chair

The Programs Committee develops the annual calendar and identifies speakers to present to the chapter at each month’s meeting.

PUBLICITY – , Chair

The Publicity Committee is responsible for overseeing the outreach and marketing activities on behalf of the chapter. This includes the preparation of flyers as needed, website management, and overseeing all social media pages.

SUNSHINE – Minynon Tucker, Chair

The Sunshine Committee serves to support the membership with notifying the chapter of birthdays each month as well as any hospitalizations or death of family members. Greeting cards are sent each month to members to celebrate their birthday.

TELEPHONE – , Chair

The Telephone Committee makes calls each month to chapter members to remind them of the monthly meeting as well as any notifications from the President.
